Residencies

Interactive multimedia sessions for students and educators that address topics dealing with identity, power, history, culture, leadership, & freedom through Hip Hop pedagogy. Sample workshop descriptions include: (virtual available)

  • Speaking Justice is a poetically formatted lecture series that draws connections between Hip-Hop’s fifth element, “knowledge of self” and education leadership for belonging, equity, liberation.

  • The Butterfly and The Panther explores writing, poetry, and artivism through the life and lyrics of Tupac Shakur and Mariah Carey.

  • Discovering My Voice in the Lyrics analyzes historical and contemporary Hip-Hop music lyrics that promote self-esteem and empowerment.

  • Rap as Poetic Metaphors for Healing and Reclamation asks questions about values, beliefs, attitudes, and ideas that can help people discover healing from trauma, anger, and stress.
