“I’m just tryna facilitate Black folks’ EDUCATIONAL freedom through these poems” - Tony

Dr. Tony Keith, Jr. is an award winning poet, spoken word artist, author, and Hip Hop educational leader who publishes on the page and the stage. His scholarly work asks questions about the lives of Ed Emcees around the world as they do their work to foster loving conditions for student learning and engagement.

Dr. Keith blends academic knowledge with an organic Hip Hop pedagogy to translate language about racial equity and social justice. He believes in the power of spoken word to liberate the disempowered, disenfranchised, and dismissed.

The creator of “Poetic Lectures”, Dr. Keith asks: How do we embody Hip-Hop as educational leaders? What are professional educational pathways for young poets? What are entrepreneurial possibilities for spoken word artists and Hip Hop educators?
